the womanly art of breastfeeding...

OK, so, here i am in Mommy Land! our little munchkin came out of my cookie and and into the world on March 22! :) so introducing our little munchkin, Baby Hazel! :)

these are the many faces and phases of breastfeeding. 

alert. eyes on the prize. giggles and a happy full tummy. thinking about her full tummy. and last but not least- milk coma. 

i know, i know, those who have ever breastfed before are probably thinking, "HA! where are the screaming-crying pics?" well, when little Hazel is crying and having a fit, i'm trying my hardest to get her to not cry and scream and my hands are full and i'm unable to snap a picture of her in this phase. but TRUST ME, i've experienced that face and phase, all too many times. 

 the title of this post is seriously, no joke- breastfeeding is an art and an art i have yet to master. but with the help of the the said book, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, a La Leche League meeting and a meeting with a fabulous lactation educator... both Hazel and I are slowly starting to get the hang of it. as frustrating as breastfeeding can be, it's also very rewarding. after she has a full tummy, she looks at me and gives a little lazy smile and then knocks out in my arms, she's just such a little doll. :) 

sometimes i wonder if she knows that i'm her mommy or if i'm just the girl who gives her magical milk boobies for her food. i know she's only two weeks, but i wish i can know what she was thinking. i love holding her and giving her little kisses and seeing her smile. she'll be bigger before i know it and then i'll be sad and be wishing that she was a little newborn again. le' sigh.

dusting off some pink fairy sprinkles...

dear lordy! it's been almost a year since i've posted! here i am getting all miffed when my favorite blogs don't post, but i suppose i'm not the best at posting myself, am i? as Lucy Ricardo would say,"WEEEEEELL" or is it Ethel Mertz that usually says that? maybe they both do. :)

anyhoo- some major exciting news and perhaps one of the main reasons i haven't really been to up to date with the bloggy world is because i was working on a very special personal "project". Project being... well, a little munchkin! YES, Cutie and i have a bun in the oven and she is just about fully baked! :) her due date has come and gone, but she is still within the safe,"two week after due date" period. Oooooh! but i can't wait to have her out so i can hold my little babbish, i'm sorry, OUR little babbish in my arms! :)

During this long almost year bloggy hiatus, we have been prepping for baby, going to our Bradley Method classes, converting our craft / office space into a nursey and i've been up to my eyes in reading baby books for the past year and have made it to the end of pretty much all of them. the nursery is ready, all it is missing is our little munchkin... and we are having a baby girl munchkin! EEeeeeEee! how exciting! i can't wait! :) she will be the first grand daughter in the Bermeo house and the first grandchild in the Cress house! yeah, she's pretty special and i'm sure will be pretty darn cute! :) i can't wait to dress her up as Snow White and take her to Disneyland! heheehe! :) so come on little Hazel, don't you want to have fun with Mama and Papa? come on out already!!! :)

when they were paired together in my carriage, they soon became the best of friends! they are so adorable, i think they have a little crush on eachother and are a bit shy. when i came home from work this evening i found them getting cuddly in my strawberry patch- so lovely these little creatures! :) so glad the weekend is almost here! happy wednesday everyone! :)

wow- haven't written in quite some time, but here i am, back in the blog world. :) it's been so busy lately at home. with work, class and homework, my time spent at home is either on the computer or spent trying to "rest".

even though i'd rather be crazy busy doing other things, i've jsut been really happy lately. :) there are soem new and exciting things going on in my personal life and i'm just really excited aand happy for the future. i love my family, i love my little cutie of a husband and i just love my life. i'm happy. are any of you guys extra happy??? what makes you happy? :)

Peruvian Piety...

i've been SUPER busy! doing what? i have no clue! but i've been busy alright! i just came back from peru (my brohter got married there- yahoo!) and was totally inspired by all of the hand woven textiles and alpaca roaming around. :)

so one of the things that has been keeping me busy is a photoshop class that i started right before my trip to peru- and here is my first homework assignment! i've been thinking a lot about lace ruffs for the past several months- so i also added little Baby Jesus in there because he's usually dressed in some pretty elaborate velvets, lace, ribbon, etc. inspired by the streets soley devoted to selling religious relics. paintings, dolls, statues, clothes for your saints, night lights, rosaries, tapestry, and of course, crowns to adorn your Baby Jesus! so with Baby Jesus in there i'm free to mix in all lace and pretty delicate things that i want to.

i'm pretty excited about the photoshop class- especially after fiddling around with it last night. i will share pictures of Peru once i find some time- as for now- i'm a busy bee with homework and wanting to draw. Sunday is my only day to myself so i think i might start drawing something. i got a huge piece of watercolor paper from swain's so i'm set for a huge painting- i'm thinking of painting scenes around the home- me and my cutie, loungin' around and being lazy.. pretty sweet huh? :) i feel happy at the moment. optimistic...

i finally finished my painting! :) i titled it "Friday Night". sometimes, well a lot of times for me lately- Friday night isn't about going to club- yelling over noise and boozing it up. it's more about coming home to my Cutie, relaxing and maybe going out to dinner and enjoying a nice glass of wine or a cocktail at  home. working on projects that i've set for myself, reading, drawing, etc. i guess i've just gone back to my homebody ways. it's just who i am i suppose.  :)

  

 and well- settling back nicely into my
homebody ways, i've started a new bloggy! my beaton branson blog i feel is a bit of a mish-mash of too many things- so i will keep this blog just for daily babble, pictures that i take around my town and art projects. me new blog: ONE-TWO-THREE-FROCK will be my journey on pattern making and of course- sewing myself up some frocks to wear! :)
i'm going to try to make 1 pattern a week- and then the following week hopefully, little by little- finish sewing it up after work. i will also have current little oddball crafts that i always get obsessed about.. and then i forget about- then get newly obsessed about... what can i say, it happens! :) so i hope to see you guys at my new bloggy and back here too!

my paint brush had dried up until...

...  i had to finish my painting for the eastside luv art show, thirsty canvas- eeek! i've officially worked on my painting 2 days- the first day i drew and i painted the first picture about 4 hours- the second day was this morning- i painted for about 30 minutes. i have to turn in my painting on saturday- so i better finish this up by then! the actual show is on dec 2 at eastside luv in boyle heights (los angeles). the theme of the show is the glorious classic drink that everyone has drank (and been drunk on) for 1000's of years... vino! well- vino, cocktails, etc.

i decided to paint a girl kind of just being lazy with a glass of wine. she has it proped up on her shoulder, just taking sips as she pleases. i haven't painted in the couch yet, but i think it looks a bit boring right now- so i'm going ot add some texture in the couch- maybe like a little floral print and i have to do more detail on the hair. i want to take up some paint on the jawline area- and i have to finsih the eyes and mouth of course, i don't know- what do you think?  aaaaand i also want to make the background a more rich red... like vino. :)

sorry that i hadn't posted sooner- i'm a bit of a wreck when it comes to posting- arent' i? well- i think i'm going to start a new blog with sewing projects- soon to be a wholel ot more in this coming year- as i'm making myself use all my stash fabric.. y punto! this blog will remain for my field trips, drawing, random pics and my daily babbling. :) i hope to start my new bloggy in mid/late december and focus on patterns and of course- sewing fabulous little frocks for me to wear... and once i get my sewing confidence- perhaps even make some stuff for friends, family, strangers, etc. :)
