morning sunrise...

saturday morning and the sun isn't quite up yet. i woke up at 430 in the morning and couldn't fall back to sleep. so i'm watching downtown 81. so far, its a bit slow... maybe i shouldn't judge the film quite so quick.

what is this little birdy looking at???

film review- it has very bad tunes and it has some pretty good tunes. mostly the acting is pretty, "meh." debbie harry looks of course like an angel, as she always does. it's on netflix streaming. i like the band who has a tall thin white man singing an an asian girl in red on drums and a few other bands/songs in the film... what do you think?

oh my! this little birdy is looking at you! :)

hope eveyone has a fabulous saturday!

The Los Angeles Conservancy

last night- cutie and i went to the Los Angeles Theater in Downtwon LA to take part of "Last Remaining Seats", presented by The Los Angeles Conservancy. the movie at hand was The Graduate- and as much as i love the film... i must admit i think the Los Angeles Theater was the shining star of the night. as soon as we walked in- it took my breath away!!! here are jsut a few pics that made me go, "oOoOH- aAaAAh...." :)

pics from top- left to right.
first pic was taken of me by a woman named chris. i was infact, taking a picture of the mirrors of the bathroom. as i wasputting my camera away- she turned and said to me, "i'm sorry, but i just need to take a pciture of you taking a picture. would you mind taking another picture so i can take one of you?" i figured..."why not?". after she took it, i asked her if she can eml it. so, in the bathroom of the los angeles theater... as we were being escorted to our bathroom stalls- we exchanged information and she emld me this pic and i had it in my possesion in about a minute... isn't technology grand???

not as grand as the los angeles theater though... a very mini tour- as there is SO much to see if you ever visit the theater- at the top of the stairs- there was a GORGEOUS crystal fountain- (wasn't running that night) that looked like a chandelier- the french inspired mural behind the fountain was painted by mexican muralist Candelario Rivas. i was thinking about maybe taking a tour of the theater- with the handsome Tony Valdez- ehhehe- who helped host the night and interviewed the producer from the gradute, Lawrence Turman, who was pretty hilarious- ehhee. :)

if ever in the LA area- i'd recommend taking one of the walking tours- you won't regret it. ;) i had seen this movie before, but it was different watching it on the big screen how it was meant to be watched- with a crowd of people. i don't think i ever realized how funny the movie wactully was when i had seen it on my small tv screen. i'm glad we went to see this for discovering the theater as well as getting the chance to see Mr. Turman. :) so- if you haven't seen the graduate yet... do.

manon of the spring

first off- happy easter to all! :) this weekend was pretty busy. we had a yard sale on saturday and today we had an easter lunchy with the family. cutie and i saw Jean de Florette / Manon of the Spring, directed by Claude Berri. it's actually two separate movies that go together. in a nutshell, Jean de Florette is about a family who is run out of their house because some town scoundrels shut off their water (a natural spring). to be honest, i stopped watching the first film cos i felt bad for the optimistic little hunchback, played by Gerard Depardieu- all he wanted was to raise rabbits and plant his vegetable garden. but as i said, i stopped watching- those scoundrels were absolutely wretched! hmph!

i did stick around for the second part, Manon of the Spring. this one i absolutely loved- so much in fact that i drew the main character, Manon- played by Emmanuelle Beart. she is the hunchbacks daughter (who unfortunately died in the first part) and she lives in a little shack in the woods and lives off the land. it's rather dreamy as she just roams the wilderness all day with her goats. takes naps under trees, bathes in a natural spring by the caves, and sets traps to catch birdies. in this film she has grown into a pretty little lady (the first film shows her as a young girl).

hmm... as i said, in a nutshell, she seeks revenge on the the 2 scoundrels and on the town who all knew that her papa was being tricked. i don't want to spoil too much of the story, but well, i just really liked the film. there are some twists that kind of make you go, "aaaAAaah!". there was another scene that i wanted to draw out- one of the scoundrels falls in love with our little Manon and attaches her hair ribbon to his chest, with a needle and thread - quite the romantic. i thought she was really natural and pretty. i really loved her dark eyebrows and her blue eyes, her wild blonde hair was always a perfect mess. she made me wish i was a shepherdess. for those of you who haven't watched teh film... do. :)

introducing my pappish, lily!

ok- here is a little vid and drawing of what went down at griffith park last weeknd. it took me forever to do the post cos i hadn't drawn out lily and the rattlesnake that we found. sadly- this was not caught on video. and as you can also see- four legged creatures aren't my specialty. :) hehehe. but lily was so cute! she did nothing but crinkle her eyeborwsand looked a bit confused. she behaved herself and we (cutie & i) walked swiftly to safety- lily incuded. :)
